sonnen is seeking an experienced Elixir Developer with expertise in scaling applications to join our IoT team. This role focuses on advancing energy management through technology, particularly in controlling adaptable loads such as EV chargers, and heat pumps. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in Elixir and a keen interest in the energy sector.  You will be part of our dynamic IoT division, working alongside skilled software engineers, architects, and requirements engineers. Our team is responsible for sonnen's global IoT cloud platform, which operates a vast network of batteries, EV chargers, and heat pumps worldwide.  We prioritize robust coding practices and teamwork to develop innovative solutions for renewable electricity management and energy market integration. What is your area of responsibility? 

 

  • IoT Platform Design: Take ownership of developing innovative enhancements for our IoT platform, focusing on Energy Management, telemetry data analysis, Device Lifecycle Management, and two-way IoT communication. Implement cutting-edge technologies and creative problem-solving to drive continuous improvements.

  • Engineering Contribution: Take full responsibility for crafting and maintaining the Elixir services, ensuring robust development and seamless operations. Work proactively with your team, IoT peers, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver high-quality software solutions.

  • Decisions & Knowledge Sharing: Actively engage in the collaborative culture by taking part in decision-making processes and sharing your expertise. Work with other developers and stakeholders to align strategies and enhance collective knowledge.

  • Team Dynamics: Drive the creation of a team environment focused on sustainable impact and high performance. Foster open communication, mutual respect, and engage in activities that support continuous professional growth within your team.

  • Remote Team Collaboration: Take initiative in your role within a remote team setup, connecting effectively with sonnen offices in Berlin and Wildpoldsried. Adapt to flexible and inclusive work practices to accommodate different time zones and cultural nuances, ensuring high productivity and team cohesion.

  

What will be required for that?  

 

  • Extensive Elixir/Erlang Proficiency: Bring a solid background with at least 2 years of hands-on experience in Elixir and Erlang, focusing on the development and management of scaled, distributed systems. Demonstrate a commitment to code excellence, with a proven ability to lead in crafting well-tested, easily maintainable codebases.

  • High-Load Systems Maintenance: Possess a proven track record in the effective maintenance and management of high-load systems, ideally within the IoT sector. Experience in overseeing IoT device operations and ensuring system reliability under demanding conditions is highly desirable.

  • Background in Energy Management or Electrical Engineering: Experience in Energy Management or a degree in Electrical Engineering is highly valued, enhancing your capability to contribute to specialized projects within these domains.
    Team Collaboration and Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and encourage open dialogue among team members. Play a pivotal role in creating a safe, innovative environment that nurtures creativity and risk-taking, crucial for driving forward-thinking solutions and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
    Language Proficiency: Must be proficient in English, with strong communication skills essential for effective collaboration in a multi-cultural and geographically dispersed team.
