Director R&D Egypt (m/w/d)

What you will do to help drive energy transition:

• You will lead and shape the cross-functional development organization in Egypt, ensuring strong technical leadership, high engineering standards, and reliable delivery across all development teams.
• You will ensure the technical direction of the local development organization, aligned with sonnen’s global engineering strategy and functional leaders, product roadmap, and platform architecture.
• You will act as a key leadership figure for the Cairo site, jointly helping to develop the location, strengthen the engineering culture, and support the long-term growth of the organization.
• You will mentor and guide engineers and technical leads, fostering a high-performance environment focused on quality, ownership, and continuous improvement.
• You will work closely with global product, engineering, and platform teams to ensure seamless collaboration and integration of locally developed solutions into the global ecosystem.
• You will implement and continuously improve sonnen’s global development processes, standards, and tools, ensuring scalable, secure, and high-quality product solutions.
• You will support the growth of the engineering organization, contributing to hiring, team development, and the long-term success of the Development Center.

What you will need for that journey:

• You hold a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a comparable technical field.
• You bring strong technical experience preferably in software development and software architecture, ideally embedded system as well as  modern cloud and platform-based environments.
• You have experience leading or mentoring (software) engineers or development teams, with the ability to combine technical expertise with people leadership.
• You are comfortable working in international and cross-functional environments, collaborating with global engineering and product teams.
• You bring strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills, combined with a pragmatic and solution-oriented mindset.
• You are fluent in English and enjoy working in a global environment.
